2024 Adroit Geelong Charity Golf Day Grant Pitch Night.
What an incredible night it was! A huge congratulations to The Empowerment Challenge on their outstanding grant pitch. This remarkable Geelong-based community organisation secured the $75,000 Adroit Charity Golf Day Capital Grant, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to support their inspiring work.
The Empowerment Challenge is dedicated to providing younger mums in the Geelong area with a safe space where they can feel empowered, connected, respected, and valued. Through their three mums groups located in Hamlyn Heights and Whittington, they offer a vital support network focused on mental health and well-being. These groups provide informal mentorship, community connection, and introduce younger mums to essential local services, including family violence support.
The impact of The Empowerment Challenge extends beyond group meetings. They also offer one-on-one connections with staff members for mums who may be unable to attend weekly groups due to mental health challenges. By meeting in comfortable environments like parks or cafes, staff work to build trust and encourage these mums to engage with the groups when they are ready.
The funding awarded will be directed toward the critical purchase of an 8-seater van, complete with car seats. This van will be instrumental in making outreach work possible and expanding their capacity to support even more younger mums. It will ensure that isolated and vulnerable mums can be transported to and from groups, and it will also facilitate one-on-one connections, providing a lifeline for those who need it most.
